My book Virtual Reality released today. It's a story set in the year 2299 where the American government has failed. New America was founded with dreams of restoring what was once a great country. In hopes of taking a step towards that dream they pass a wave of new laws. Including fully legalizing cocaine and marijuana and heavily taxing them. In light of these new laws the country still post the highest unemployment and crime rates ever recorded. The only thing keeping the citizens sane through this time is a virtual reality machine by Oryiss Corporation. This is the first machine of it's type. There's no controller, no graphics. You'll fell the gust as a dragon flies overhead. You'll feel the recoil of the gun. However the machine is highly scrutinized by many for being linked to schizophrenia and other psychological problems. The young protagonist quickly falls victim to these side effects. He begins to lose touch with what's real. He quickly finds himself struggling to differentiate between reality and virtual reality.

Writing is something that millions of people are turning to for income. Finding a market for your book in this wave of new writers isn't an easy task. A tip from almost every successful writer, get a fan base. Why do you think I'm blogging? You need a following of fans in order for your book to get big, that's obvious. One thing they don't suggest is writing a short story. Amazon is a great place to publish your work, but their are so many more sites that you can venture to to get your name out their. That's really the first step of being successful, building your name. So if you've already published a novel and find that it's not selling, build your name. If you're thinking or have already started writing a novel, put that on pause. Write a short story comprised of roughly 10,000 words and put it on as many sites as possible. Put all your best work into this story, then proof read it two or three times. Have a friend read it and tell them be completely honest with you. Share it everyday, drive your friends and family crazy. Along with brand recognition you want criticism. This will help you become a much better author. Another tip is to stay focused. If you feel like you want to give up and stop writing. DON'T. Nothing happens overnight just remember to keep at it. Promote your work as much as you can. I guarantee it will take off if you get it out there. No one said being a successful author was going to be easy. |
