Xbox Focus for 2015:
Game: Halo 5 Guardians |
Developer: 343 Industries |
Release: 10/27/15 |
I know. It seems like the easy way out. Picking Microsofts golden game to be the highlight of the year. As a fan of the franchise I might have let my bias blind an actual opinion but honestly in my opinion there is no exclusive this year that will compare. Halo 4 was rough for 343i. It's not an easy thing for anyone to take the reigns so we'll just pretend that game didn't happen and also try to forget all the mistakes that came along with the greatness that should have been the Master Chief Collection. This will be their redemption from all of that. I can almost guarantee that Microsoft will not allow anything less than perfect this time around.
Now let's move onto this game now. I was granted access to the early beta period. Which was about a week prior to the expected release, so I was able to play the game for a solid month. It took a few games to get the halo feel back. Aiming down the sites and permanent armor abilities brought a refreshing feel to the game without taking away from the Halo aspect. The maps were detailed but there was still plenty of sight lines or places to dodge out of a firefight and reminded me of a Halo map. I'll come back to this later in the article.

Let's Watch The Trailers:
Campaign:
At this point not a lot of information concerning the campaign has been disclosed. However it is strongly believed the game will feature two protagonist; Master Chief and Agent Locke. You probably already know a good deal about Master Chief so I'll move onto Agent Locke. If you haven't been following along on the Halo: Nightfall series this name probably doesn't name any bells. Give the episodes a watch, they'll get you affiliated with the character you'll more than likely be able to play.
Agent Locke is brought in to help find Chief who went missing after the events of Halo 4. It's later found out that he's lost in what appears to be a Promethean desert clutching Cortana in hopes of saving her from rampancy. Nothing has been said up to this point so it's probably safe to assume that Guardians campaign will start off with this. If this game is anything like it's hyped up to be we should be expecting a Halo 2 type of story line. One in which the story alternates between characters. Maximizing the campaign length and providing the player with a break from each story.
